I've been looking at a NH TC40D (even though I own a smaller Green I didn't think I could afford a 4710). After pricing the TC40D (SS w/17LA FEL rear remotes, R4s, block heater) and a 6' rotary cutter at about $24,300, I decided to "just check out" the JD 4710. A JD dealer about a half hour away has a 4710 e-Hydro, with a 460 FEL, 2 rear remotes, block heater, and a 6' rotary cutter for $23,800! Is this even a close call? I like the loader & hydro on the 4710 better and it's 8HP larger. I like the super steer on the TC40D but it's not worth that difference. To say the least I was shocked at the price comparison. (Note: I was looking at a TC40D instead of the TC45D because that's what the NH dealer had on the lot.) What do you think?

Tom (and anybody else), I just test drove a tc40D and the salesman tried to demonstrate the QA loader. He was having a heck of a time getting the pins off and then had a lot of difficulty getting the arms to come off the frame of the tractor. He admitted that he had never done it before and gave up. However, from what I saw the process is not nearly as easy the QA loader on my JD. Realistically, how hard is it for one man to do it on the tc40D and how long does it take.
Also, a feature that I really didn't like was the kill switch that shut off the engine whenever I got up off the seat. Even with the parking brake on and the gear shift in "N" the engine won't run without seat pressure?? The salesman indicated that I would probably want to disable the switch.

I have an 855, 4WD, with a 70A loader. It has about 800 hours on it (mainly used for mowing the yard). The loader was purchased when the tractor had about 500 hours. I'm selling it with a 60" belly mower, a 5' rotary cutter, and a 5' box blade. It has ag tires. It is in very good condition. I have maintained it and it has been stored indoors. Thanks jt and Farmhouse. With either product would you need to put some sort of drip edge behind the bottom of the vertical siding and then up over the top of the horizontal board to prevent water from going inside? Thanks. Also I'll try to put a photo here if I can figure out the process.

Has anyone used a mmm on a tc40d? Am I going to have prblems with scalping (84", right?)? I'd like to avoid having to buy another machine (such as a ZTR) but would using a mmm not take the place?

Instead of wondering whether or not you can be sued why don't you first think about whether or not you are needlessly endangering others by your practice? If one has to really ponder the choice between killing or injuring someone vs. having a better looking lawn I'd be worried about our priorities.
